In partnership with 26 other campus departments, we offer a truly interdisciplinary major tailored to meet a wide variety of career and graduate school interests.
You will have many opportunities to become involved in the department through student organizations and special study and research with the faculty. Our forensics team, journalists, public relations specialists, radio station and television news teams have been nationally recognized, and our students do challenging work for many organizations through internships.
These experiences provide you with opportunities to apply the theory and skills gained through course work and give you an advantage on future jobs and graduate programs.
We also offer:
- Internship opportunities (many paid) with local employers or organizations.
- KWCR FM 88.1, a long-running, completely student-operated radio station.
- Participation in WSU's nationally ranked intercollegiate forensics program.
- "The Signpost," WSU's award-winning, tri-weekly newspaper, funded, written and published by students.
- Networking and learning activities in student chapters of the Public Relations Student Society of America, Society of Professional Journalists, National Broadcasting Society, Delta Sigma Rho Tau Kappa Alpha, and the International Radio and Television Organization.
- Department tuition aid scholarships and monetary awards in collaboration with the Weber State University Associated Students and private donors.
- Hands-on experience with "Weber State News," a cable television newscast broadcast from a new, professional, on-campus television studio.
